It's better to me, (IMO,) to buy 7 or 8 in a row. These games are high dollar and you don't want to buy just 1 or 2.
I played the $30 ticket too and bought 8 in a row, I forgot how much I won, guess it was about half, I was relieved I didn't lose much so it must have been. It is funner because you have 3 different games to play, and you will win Something due to odds. I have had great experience with that in past.
Imo if you're going to buy lower $ tickets ($1,2,3) get a bunch of each one at one store. I just wanted to get that jackpot ticket. Then went to another store, and added $$35 of my cash and bought another $200 worth of the same ticket. Bought $200 worth at a store and won $165 back. Today for instance I played $200 million payout in Houston. Usually it is about half, more, or I break even or go over. This way I can beat odds and win some back. I always buy at least 20 $10 tickets, or $300 worth of $20 tickets.
